Duties |
Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) |
 |
Top junior leader of the troop. He leads all troop meetings, camping trips, activities, and chairs the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC). In consultation with the Scoutmaster appoints other junior leaders and assigns specific responsibilities as needed. The Scoutmaster is the principal advisor to the SPL. |
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) |
 |
Backup for the Senior Patrol Leader in his absence. Performs duties as assigned by the SPL. Responsible for training and giving direction to the Quartermaster, Scribe, Historian, Troop Guides, and Instructors. The Scoutmaster and/or one of the Assistant Scoutmasters provide counsel to the ASPL. |
Patrol Leader (PL) |
 |
Leads his patrol at patrol meetings, camping trips, and events. Develops and fosters patrol spirit. Represents the patrol to the PLC or sends a representative. Keeps all patrol members informed of troop decisions and plans. An Assistant Scoutmaster is assigned as an advisor for a patrol. |
Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) |

Backup for the Patrol Leader when he cannot be present. Attends PLC meetings if the Patrol Leader cannot. Is responsible for maintaining and displaying the patrol flag. Performs duties as assigned by the patrol leader. An Assistant Scoutmaster is assigned as an advisor for a patrol. |
Bugler

Responsible for playing bugle at troop activities and ceremonies. An Assistant Scoutmaster acts as an advisor. |
Chaplain Aide |
 |
Plans troop religious services and promotes religious emblems programs. Plans and executes troop service projects. The Troop Committee Chaplain is the advisor to the Chaplain Aide. |
Den Chief |
 |
Works with a Cub Scout or Webelos den as a guide. The Webelos Den Leader acts as an advisor. |
Historian |
 |
Collects and maintains troop memorabilia and information on former troop members. Writes an article each month on troop activities for the troop newsletter and web site. The Troop Committee Historian or an Assistant Scoutmaster acts as an advisor. |
Instructor |
 |
Teaches one or more skills as directed by the SPL or ASPL. An Assistant Scoutmaster provides counsel as required. |
Librarian |
 |
Keeps troop record books, pamphlets, magazines, audiovisuals, and Merit Badge counselor list available for use by troop members. An Assistant Scoutmaster acts as an advisor. |
Troop Quartermaster |
 |
Responsible for troop equipment and supplies. Maintains the Troop equipment locker in a neat and orderly manner. Keeps records of all troop and patrol equipment and keeps it maintained. Responsible for checking out equipment and ensuring it is returned in proper condition. Makes recommendations to the PLC on new or replacement equipment. An Assistant Scoutmaster is responsible to act as an advisor. |
Patrol Quartermaster |

Develops a checklist of patrol equipment required for each trip. Signs out and in with the troop quartermaster all patrol equipment required for a trip. Divides the patrol gear amongst the patrol members. The individual patrol members are responsible for returning the gear to the patrol quartermaster in a clean and ready to use condition. |
Troop Scribe |
 |
Secretary for the troop. Records all PLC decisions in a log book. Writes the PLC minutes for the troop newsletter and web site each month. Records attendance and uniforming at each event and hands out recognition beads for these at a troop meeting each month. The Troop Records Chairperson or an Assistant Scoutmaster acts as an advisor. |
Patrol Scribe |

Secretary for the patrol. Records all patrol decisions in a log book. Records patrol attendance and uniforming at each activity. Writes duty roster for each camping trip and posts it at the patrol site on the camping trip. |
Troop Guide |
 |
Works with the Patrol Leader(s) of the first year scout patrol. Assists all first year scouts advance to First Class rank. Teaches first year scouts skills and shows proper camping techniques. Helps represent the first year scouts to the PLC. An Assistant Scoutmaster acts as an advisor to the Troop Guide. |
